We’ve selected a wide-ranging collection of destinations, ski resorts, luxury hotels and gorgeous chalets for you to choose from. Don’t worry if you are not an expert skier, most of these mountains have various slopes dedicated to each level, from experts to beginners. Certainly, each area’s facilities will determine which destination would suit your personal taste for you and your party.
We, at Luxury Lifestyle Experts, are specialized in this field and can guide you towards the right one for you! We guarantee you won’t be disappointed in skiing at any of these excellent resorts in France and Switzerland; they are amongst the most exclusive and wealthy ski resorts. Here are our favourites: Megève, Courchevel, Gstaad, Zermatt, and Verbier.
1. Megève, France
Megève is located in the Mont Blanc Massif in the southeast of France. Mont Blanc Massif is overlooking this chic village. It is also situated right at the heart of an immense ski area. There are 3 main sections: Mont Joly, Rochebrune and Combloux. They have recently partnered with Chamonix’s Compagnie du Mont Blanc. This way guests can enjoy the benefits of the Mont Blanc Unlimited Pass. It provides unlimited access to slopes that cross both France, Italy and Switzerland, and the other two legendary sites, Chamonix and Les Houches. It also provides holders with other exceptional benefits, such as unlimited access to pools, skating rinks, museums, cinema along with others! For accommodation, we highly recommend staying at the Four Seasons Megève. Its location is ideal for skiing, it features a two-Michelin star restaurant, offers multiple spa treatments and has heated indoor and outdoor pools with underwater music.
2. Courchevel, France
Courchevel is the largest ski resort worldwide. It is part of two other interlinked ski resorts known as Les Trois Valéees. Courchevel is a favorite for ski experts with its off-piste terrains but also accommodates for beginners and intermediates. This luxury ski resort is family-friendly and provides safety vests for children on chairlifts. It’s widely known for its luxury hotels and chalets, après-ski events and haute cuisine at various Michelin star restaurants. The 2-star Michelin, The Kintessence in Courchevel 1850, offers an elegant cuisine with sophisticated preparations. Let’s not forget Courchevel’s only 3-star Michelin, The 1947 at the Cheval Blanc! Chef Yannick Alléno takes French cuisine to another level with rich flavours and creativity. We recommend you to stay at Les Airelles, simply the most authentic palace of the French Alps.
3. Zermatt, Switzerland
Zermatt is situated on one of the world’s most famous mountains, the Matterhorn. It is also Switzerland’s highest ski resort and is a very popular ski destination for people around the globe. Zermatt is a car-free zone and offers a wide range of excursions and activities for all ages. Book your stay at the Chalet Zermatt Peak for a luxurious traditional alpine feel fused with modern interior design. This chalet comes with full complimentary staff and your own personal chef here to prepare you any kind of cuisine you fancy!
4. Verbier, Switzerland
Verbier is another wonderful Switzerland resort to check out. This ski resort offers immense scope of activities such as heli-skiing, ski touring and rides on world-renowned marked routes! Don’t miss out on the longest sledge run with your family or friends in La Tzoumaz. This gorgeous ski destination combines scenic locations, sunny weather and fun nightlife! Chalet Calima, a truly stunning chalet, in Verbier is the perfect accommodation to feel right Alps close! This decorative chalet is quite spacious and includes plenty of indoor and outdoor space for you, your family or friends! You will experience the most luxurious chalet spa experiences in the Alps at Chalet Calima.
5. Gstaad, Switzerland
Our final Switzerland destination! Gstaad is not quite like the other popular luxury ski resorts. Don’t worry if you are not a ski person, they offer various excursions at Gstaad. We highly recommend visiting Glacier 3000. Tourists from all around the world come to see its breathtaking 360-degree panorama of the Swiss Alps. We recommend a luxury stay at the Ultima Gstaad Hotel. Ultima’s designer furs and velvets, luxury decorations and spa are only part of what this hotel has to offer. Luxury in Gstaad doesn’t get any better than a stay at this high-end hotel. Head to Megu for a taste of Switzerland’s top Asian restaurant. Head Chef Tetsujiro Ogata and Head Sushi Chef Tsutomu Jugota run this one-star Michelin restaurant. Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance designed this interior by incorporating Alpine wood and antique kimonos, all inspired by the Japanese traditions and culture, especially the temples of Kyoto.
